Kenneth Burgess utilizes his extensive international contact network and international experience to assist GAIN clients to find professional services, resolve threats and extricate expatriates from foreign countries. He also provides consultation, coaching and training in the areas of cross-cultural awareness, critical incident services, international employee assistance programs and conducting international business.
Mr. Burgess is a principal and operations director of a Brazilian company providing employee assistance and mental health services throughout Latin America. He has held positions as Director, National Business Development for Wellpoint Behavioral Health, Manager, Employee Assistance Program for The Aluminum Company of America and for Gulf Oil Corporation and he was Administrator EAP for US Steel Corporation.
Mr. Burgess has developed service networks and worked in over 60 countries. He has worked extensively in the United Kingdom and Western Europe especially Germany, Belgium and Holland. He has experience in Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand and Vietnam.
As Manager EAP for the Aluminum Corporation of America, Mr. Burgess established EAP programs for nationals in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Trinidad, and other countries. He successfully managed potentially life-threatening incidents, established workplace violence procedures and provided critical incident debriefings worldwide.
Mr. Burgess has authored numerous articles on expatriate support services and employee assistance programs. From 1993-1995, he successfully led a group of Fortune 500 Companies to develop counseling and support services for their expatriate employees and families through the EAP Roundtable, a division of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. He has been invited to speak at conferences in Scotland (1992), Brazil (1993 & 1998), the Czech Republic (1994), Australia (1997), New Zealand (1997) and Venezuela (1998).
Mr. Burgess is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. He received his Masters in Education, Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from Kent State University.
